North American Industrial Hemp Council, Inc.

A Renewable Industrial Fiber Crop

Letter to Industrial Hemp Advocates

from Erwin A. “Bud” Sholts, Chairman

September 2007

Dear Industrial Hemp Advocate:

The North American Industrial Hemp Council, Inc. (NAIHC) continues to advocate industrial hemp cultivation in the United States to Administration policymakers in Washington, DC.

Your support is needed as a member (Click Here to go to the membership registration form
).  We need your active involvement at all levels and your financial support as well.  Please join or renew your membership with NAIHC, today.

Here are a few of the reasons we can all be encouraged about our prospects to grow this important crop:
  • New faces in higher places in Washington are open to considering the commercialization of industrial hemp.
  • We promoted the development and distributed “Hemp and The Rule of Law” DVD, a documentary by Kevin Balling premiered at the Asheville Film Festival and at the ARTIVIST Film Festival in Hollywood. The one-hour documentary traces hemp's legendary past in U.S. agriculture and chronicles the heated debate to return the crop to American farmers. (Click Here to order the DVD)
  • Industry interest in industrial hemp is significant and its importance in the marketplace is harder and harder to ignore.
  • Favorable articles by the press and media coverage continue to tell the importance and truth about industrial hemp.
  • The Board of Directors held a strategic planning session in North Dakota, the state that has the most advanced industrial hemp law in the nation.
  • We are working with the industry to develop a discussion on industrial hemp in the industrial process.
  • NAIHC supported legalization in several other states.
  • The Board of Directors was expanded to twelve members.
  • We participated in a Washington, DC Capitol Hill event announcing the introduction of the first-ever federal hemp bill, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act; a very positive article was written in Roll Call, a publication that is widely read by Congress.
  • Our 12th Annual Business Membership meeting of the NAIHC is scheduled for October 30th.  (Click Here for Annual Meeting information)
In summary, things are beginning to look promising for industrial hemp so it is time to gear-up and get it done.  Be part of our effort.

Join or re-join today (

Sincerely,

NAIHC
